Rusell de Souza, autor principal do estudo, indicou que incluir estes legumes na dieta n\u00e3o s\u00f3 ajuda uma pessoa a perder peso, mas &#8220;<strong>pode evitar que se volte a ganhar outra vez o peso perdido&#8221;.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ao analisar a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o do peso de 940 adultos, que <strong>inclu\u00edram em sua dieta (o equivalente a 3\/4 de uma x\u00edcara)<\/strong> uma por\u00e7\u00e3o de legumes ao dia, identificou-se que as pessoas <strong>conseguiram perder em m\u00e9dia 0,34 quilogramas <\/strong>em seis semanas sem evitar outros tipos de alimentos. A equipe de pesquisadores indicou que os legumes possuem um \u00edndice glic\u00eamico baixo, portanto, s\u00e3o processados lentamente no aparelho digestivo e podem ser consumidos para substituir alimentos de origem animal ou gorduras n\u00e3o saud\u00e1veis.<\/p>\n<p>A equipe de Rusell apontou que os <strong>legumes aumentam a sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de saciedade<\/strong>. Com rela\u00e7\u00e3o a este achado, Rusell destacou que a incorpora\u00e7\u00e3o de legumes na dieta ajuda a manter a perda de peso porque reduz a influ\u00eancia da fome e o desejo de comer, os quais s\u00e3o as duas raz\u00f5es mais importantes do fracasso de 90% das dietas. Al\u00e9m dos benef\u00edcios indicados, o especialista ressaltou que os legumes, ao parecer, ajudariam a reduzir os n\u00edveis de colesterol \u201cmau\u201d (LDL).<\/p>\n<p>Antonella Apicella, nutricionista de pacientes ambulat\u00f3rios do Hospital Lenox Hill, da cidade de Nova Iorque, destacou que <strong>a fibra que estes alimentos cont\u00eam poderia ajudar a reduzir a absor\u00e7\u00e3o de gordura.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A nutricionista Dana Angelo White, nutricionista da Universidade de Quinnipiac, em Hamden, Connecticut, indicou que as pessoas n\u00e3o deram seu verdadeiro valor a estes alimentos.
