O interesse pelos valores nutritivos do gr\u00e3o e a alternativa ao gl\u00faten s\u00e3o os principais chamativos desta planta que existe h\u00e1 milhares de anos, mas que s\u00f3 agora despertou a aten\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Presente naturalmente na Am\u00e9rica do Sul, a quinoa alimentava os Incas e seus descendentes. Com a coloniza\u00e7\u00e3o espanhola, a colheita da planta ficou marginalizada. H\u00e1 quatro anos, a Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas nomeou 2013 como o <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/quinoa-2013\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ano Internacional da Quinoa<\/a> em reconhecimento aos altos valores nutritivos presentes no gr\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Agora um grupo de pesquisadores internacionais, liderados pela Universidade de Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia Rey Abdal\u00e1 da Arabia Saudita (KAUST, na sigla em ingl\u00eas) <strong>anunciou que completou a primeira sequ\u00eancia de alta qualidade do genoma da planta<\/strong>. O projeto re\u00fane 33 pesquisadores dos quatro continentes.<\/p>\n<p>A equipe utilizou uma s\u00e9rie de t\u00e9cnicas para agrupar cromossomas completos da <em>Chenopodium quinoa<\/em> para conseguir conhecer as caracter\u00edsticas da planta, os mecanismos de crescimento, madura\u00e7\u00e3o e produ\u00e7\u00e3o de sementes.<\/p>\n<p>De acordo com o diretor da equipe de pesquisa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaust.edu.sa\/en\/study\/faculty\/mark-tester\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Tester,<\/a> <strong>\u201ca quinoa produz, naturalmente, sementes de sabor amargo. Isto se deve \u00e0 acumula\u00e7\u00e3o de compostos qu\u00edmicos chamados saponinas, nas sementes<\/strong>. Identificamos um dos genes que acreditamos que controlam a produ\u00e7\u00e3o das saponinas na quinoa, o que facilitaria o cultivo de plantas sem estes compostos para fazer que as sementes tenham um sabor mais doce\u201d, explicou Tester.<\/p>\n<p>A informa\u00e7\u00e3o conseguida poder\u00e1 ajudar tamb\u00e9m na produ\u00e7\u00e3o do gr\u00e3o\u00a0para o consumo mais amplo, oferecendo alternativas para o cultivo. \u201cJ\u00e1 sabemos que a planta \u00e9 incrivelmente resistente. Pode crescer em solos pobres, salgados e em altas atitudes. \u00c9 realmente uma planta muito dura\u201d, afirmou o pesquisador.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.funiber.org.br\" target=\"_blank\">FUNIBER<\/a> coordena no Peru o projeto \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.funiber.blog\/pt\/arquitetura-e-desenho\/2016\/03\/22\/funiber-promove-projeto-de-estimulo-ao-setor-agroalimentar-no-peru\" target=\"_blank\">Est\u00edmulo do setor agroalimentar do Peru em base \u00e0 inova\u00e7\u00e3o e \u00e0 inclus\u00e3o<\/a>\u201d para sensibilizar e capacitar diferentes empresas agr\u00edcolas, incluindo comunidades produtores da quinoa.
