Mas n\u00e3o se trata apenas da grande ma\u00e7\u00e3, Jianjun Yin, diretor da investiga\u00e7\u00e3o assegura que n\u00e3o ser\u00e1 a \u00fanica cidade afetada, pois muitas das cidades de maior popula\u00e7\u00e3o nos Estados Unidos est\u00e3o localizadas na costa.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->N\u00e3o \u00e9 um cen\u00e1rio fatalista, mas \u00e9 muito importante destacar que inclusive nos cen\u00e1rios em que se contemplavam emiss\u00f5es moderadas, os resultados da simula\u00e7\u00e3o indicavam que o n\u00edvel do mar se elevaria em cerca de 21 cent\u00edmetros na zona de Nova York, aumentando o risco de inunda\u00e7\u00f5es. Al\u00e9m disso, cabe considerar que algumas \u00e1reas poderiam submergir permanentemente, aumentaria a eros\u00e3o nas praias, a salinidade dos estu\u00e1rios aumentaria, afetando os ecossistemas e causando danos ao desenvolvimento da zona costeira.<\/p>\n<p>Os elementos que atuariam de forma conjunta para elevar o n\u00edvel do mar seriam a redu\u00e7\u00e3o da capa de gelo da Groenl\u00e2ndia e a expans\u00e3o t\u00e9rmica, mas os cientistas indicaram que para seus c\u00e1lculos apenas utilizaram as cifras da expans\u00e3o t\u00e9rmica e n\u00e3o o desaparecimento da capa de gelo j\u00e1 que ainda h\u00e1 incertezas em torno desse fator.<\/p>\n<p>A parte baixa da Fl\u00f3rida e a regi\u00e3o ocidental da Europa tamb\u00e9m estariam em risco. De acordo com Yin, a corrente oce\u00e2nica do Atl\u00e2ntico Meridional pode ser afetada pelo aquecimento global.
