Mas esta comodidade tem um alto custo para o meio ambiente. De acordo com um <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0048969717331224?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estudo realizado pela Universidade de Manchester,<\/a> os 130 milh\u00f5es de aparelhos de micro-ondas usados na Uni\u00e3o Europeia consomem aproximadamente 9,4 teravatios por hora de eletricidade a cada ano.<!--more--><\/h2>\n<p>O consumo equivale \u00e0 gera\u00e7\u00e3o de eletricidade de tr\u00eas grandes plantas de energia a g\u00e1s, por ano. Estima-se tamb\u00e9m que um forno de micro-ondas pode gastar cerca de 573 quilovatios hora de eletricidade durante uma vida \u00fatil de 8 anos.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, os pesquisadores avaliam o impacto deste consumo para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de di\u00f3xido de carbono e alertam: os micro-ondas na UE representam a emiss\u00e3o de g\u00e1s de aproximadamente sete milh\u00f5es de autom\u00f3veis (7,7 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de CO2).<\/p>\n<p>Os pesquisadores chegaram a estes dados ap\u00f3s analisarem 12 fatores ambientais relacionados a todo o ciclo de vida destes fornos: fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o, uso e gest\u00e3o do res\u00edduo quando j\u00e1 n\u00e3o tem funcionamento.<\/p>\n<p>Como podemos oferecer uma resposta sustent\u00e1vel ao uso destes aparelhos: o consumo respons\u00e1vel e com consci\u00eancia. Os consumidores devem tentar usar o eletrodom\u00e9stico de modo eficiente, reduzindo os tempos de cozimento, e optando por alternativas menos poluentes.<\/p>\n<p>Outro tema relevante se refere ao desuso do aparelho. Segundo o estudo, s\u00f3 em 2005, aproximadamente 184.000 toneladas de res\u00edduos se referiam \u00e0 res\u00edduos destes eletrodom\u00e9sticos.<\/p>\n<p>Os estudos sugerem, e recomendam, uma regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o por parte da Comunidade Europeia para 2020, que poderia diminuir os impactos ambientais entre 4% e 9%, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 situa\u00e7\u00e3o atual.
