O estudo identificou que os vegetarianos teriam os n\u00edveis mais baixos de s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lica e menores taxas de massa corporal (IMC) em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com outros pacientes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><!--more-->Os pesquisadores analisaram diversos dados, diferenciando os pacientes em tr\u00eas categorias: vegetarianos, semi-vegetarianos (comem carne de gado ou ave menos de uma vez por semana) e os n\u00e3o vegetarianos. As an\u00e1lises inclu\u00edram medidas de a\u00e7\u00facar no sangue, gorduras no sangue, press\u00e3o, tamanho da cintura e massa corporal, para identificar fatores que possam produzir a s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Identificou-se que apenas 23 de cada 100 vegetarianos reunia pelo menos 3 fatores da s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lica, enquanto que no grupo de semi-vegetarianos o n\u00famero aumentou para 29 e no de n\u00e3o vegetarianos para 37. Foram analisados fatores como sa\u00fade, dieta e estilo de vida de mais de 700 adultos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Adicionalmente foram realizadas an\u00e1lises dos n\u00edveis de a\u00e7\u00facar, gordura e colesterol no sangue, tamb\u00e9m tomaram medidas de tamanho da cintura, \u00edndice de massa corporal e press\u00e3o dos pacientes. Ao considerar o IMC, idenficaram que os vegetariano teriam em m\u00e9dia um \u00edndice de 25,7 (IMC superior a 25 indica sobrepeso e a 30 obesidade), os n\u00e3o vegetarianos alcan\u00e7aram a m\u00e9dia de 29,7, enquanto que os semi-vegetarianos registraram um IMC  m\u00e9dio com o tamanho de cintura menor que o dos n\u00e3o vegetarianos, mas superior que os vegetarianos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Os investigadores n\u00e3o deram uma resposta conclusiva sobre as descobertas feitas neste ensaio, pois os estudo n\u00e3o relevou uma rela\u00e7a\u00f5 de causa-efeito relacionada \u00e0 dieta; N\u00e3o foi realizado um acompanhamento dos pacientes em longo prazo para determinar a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o dos pacientes e identificar a apari\u00e7\u00e3o poss\u00edvel de diabetes ou males card\u00edacos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Deve-se ter em conta que o estudo foi feito entre pacientes de um hospital da igreja Adventista do S\u00e9timo Dia, cujos pacientes s\u00e3o em grande parte vegetarianos.
