Por\u00e9m, esta capacidade est\u00e1 diminuindo pela sobrecarga.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Segundo um estudo publicado na <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-020-2035-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">revista <em>Nature<\/em><\/a>, em que pesquisadores avaliaram o comportamento de 565 florestas tropicais nos \u00faltimos 30 anos, os resultados indicam que estes bosques atingiram sua capacidade m\u00e1xima na d\u00e9cada de 90.<\/p>\n<p>As causas est\u00e3o associadas \u00e0 perda da biomassa, j\u00e1 que a superf\u00edcie florestal perdeu 19% nestas tr\u00eas d\u00e9cadas analisadas no estudo. Por outro lado, neste mesmo per\u00edodo, as emiss\u00f5es mundiais aumentaram em 46%.<\/p>\n<p>O autor principal do estudo, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ugent.be\/bw\/environment\/en\/research\/woodlab\/Staff\/wannes-hubau.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wannes Hubau,<\/a> afirma que, apesar de haver mais CO2 na atmosfera, o que incentivaria o crescimento das \u00e1rvores, este efeito se v\u00ea prejudicado \u201cpelos impactos negativos das temperaturas mais altas e as secas, que diminuem o ritmo de crescimento e podem matar as \u00e1rvores\u201d, explica.<\/p>\n<p>Os resultados sugerem que podemos estar presenciando uma mudan\u00e7a de ciclo, onde as florestas passam a transformar-se em uma fonte mais de CO2. Diante deste estudo, os pesquisadores acreditam que ser\u00e1 necess\u00e1rio rever as estimativas sobre as emiss\u00f5es em todo o mundo, de maneira necess\u00e1ria e urgente.<\/p>\n<p>Outra autora do estudo, a pesquisadora <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/environment\/our-staff\/aida-cuni-sanchez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aida Cuni S\u00e1nchez<\/a>, afirmou que \u201ca capacidade dos bosques tropicais para absorver o carbono est\u00e1 diminuindo d\u00e9cadas antes dos que os modelos clim\u00e1ticos mais pessimistas haviam previsto\u201d, alerta.<\/p>\n<p>Segundo o estudo, as florestas tropicais virgens conseguiram eliminar 17% das emiss\u00f5es de CO2 produzidas pela humanidade na d\u00e9cada de 90.
