Os especialistas indicaram que em alguns casos certos complementos como o betacaroteno ou a vitamina E poderiam ser prejudiciais. Por essa raz\u00e3o, os especialistas recomendam que as pessoas se centrem nos benef\u00edcios que uma dieta equilibrada tem para a sa\u00fade.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>O Dr. Michael LeFebre, co-presidente do Grupo de Trabalho dos Servi\u00e7os Preventivos dos Estados Unidos, indicou em um comunicado que \u201cn\u00e3o h\u00e1 suficientes evid\u00eancias para determinar se \u00e9 poss\u00edvel reduzir o risco de doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares ou c\u00e2ncer ao analisar nutrientes isolados, combinados ou em um multivitam\u00ednico, no entanto, h\u00e1 duas exce\u00e7\u00f5es claras: a vitamina E e o betacaroteno.<\/p>\n<p>Por um lado, verificou-se que a vitamina E n\u00e3o oferece nenhum benef\u00edcio no esfor\u00e7o de combater a doen\u00e7a, enquanto que o betacaroteno poderia ser realmente prejudicial, j\u00e1 que aparentemente aumenta as probabilidades de desenvolver c\u00e2ncer de pulm\u00e3o entre as pessoas que t\u00eam um risco mais alto de contrair a doen\u00e7a. Por esta raz\u00e3o, a recomenda\u00e7\u00e3o sugere manter uma dieta equilibrada.<\/p>\n<p>Duffy McKay, vice-presidente de assuntos cient\u00edficos e regulat\u00f3rios do Conselho para uma Nutri\u00e7\u00e3o Respons\u00e1vel aponta que \u201ca escassez das evid\u00eancias dos ensaios cl\u00ednicos n\u00e3o deveria ser mal interpretada no sentido de que os multivitam\u00ednicos n\u00e3o oferecem benef\u00edcios\u201d.
