Os pesquisadores indicam que a <strong>\u201cdieta MIND\u201d<\/strong>, uma combina\u00e7\u00e3o de <strong>dieta mediterr\u00e2nea<\/strong> e <strong>DASH<\/strong> (desenvolvida para combater a hipertens\u00e3o), ajuda a preservar <strong>as fun\u00e7\u00f5es cognitivas das pessoas<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>O estudo, realizado com 28 mil adultos, em 40 pa\u00edses, demonstrou que <strong>as pessoas que mantinham uma alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o balanceada estavam entre os 20% dos indiv\u00edduos com melhores resultados.<\/strong> As pessoas com melhor desempenho conseguiram reduzir a probabilidade de deteriora\u00e7\u00e3o da mem\u00f3ria, da aten\u00e7\u00e3o e de outras fun\u00e7\u00f5es cerebrais nos cinco anos de acompanhamento, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com aquelas que preferiam consumir carnes vermelhas e doces.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Smyth, principal autor do estudo e pesquisador da <a title=\"Universidade McMaster\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mcmaster.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Universidade McMaster<\/a>, localizada em Hamilton, Ontario (Canad\u00e1), afirma que o estudo n\u00e3o demonstra que a dieta por si s\u00f3 traga benef\u00edcios identificados. Ele apontou que foi poss\u00edvel identificar que as pessoas que mant\u00eam dietas melhores podem ter melhor educa\u00e7\u00e3o, fazer mais exerc\u00edcio ou fumar menos. Portanto, seria necess\u00e1rio realizar mais estudos para identificar com exatid\u00e3o o impacto da dieta na sa\u00fade das pessoas.<\/p>\n<p>Smyth assinala que seu estudo sugere que \u201cuma dieta balanceada pode reduzir o risco de deteriora\u00e7\u00e3o cerebral\u201d. No estudo, foi realizada uma avalia\u00e7\u00e3o das pessoas utilizando um \u00edndice de \u201calimento saud\u00e1vel\u201d, qualificando com uma maior pontua\u00e7\u00e3o aquelas pessoas que consomem alimentos como frutas e verduras e poucos alimentos n\u00e3o recomendados como as frituras.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>dieta MIND<\/strong> recomenda o consumo de frutas, verduras (sobretudo folhas verdes), gr\u00e3os integrais, nozes, azeite de oliva, leguminosas e peixe.
